Brunel University - Mathematics and Computer Building

The existing building was constructed in the late 1960s when the campus was originally developed and faces one side of a sunken square.

The proposed infill extension addresses this public space and has to retain a focus as the main entrance to the building as well as providing additional floor space for a new Careers Service Library acting as a showroom to the square and IT teaching space on the upper floor.

The lightweight glazed linking structure between the existing solid flanks is intended to retain the current contrast of the building’s courtyard which is one of the predominant features of the complex. The new spaces being created at the heart of the building will be dynamic and exciting and provide views of the main campus square.
