Edgington Spink and Hyne is one of the oldest established practices in the United Kingdom, having been founded by Thomas Edgington as Edgington and Son in Windsor in 1856. During the following years work was undertaken at Windsor Castle and for the Nobility and Gentry, and the firm prospered. In 1907 Herbert Spink joined the firm which continued until 1955 as Edgington and Spink, when Reginald Hyne's name was added to the title. During the whole of this period the offices were in the centre of Windsor. East Berkshire contains many examples of the work of the practice in its earlier days; buildings which are now landmarks, listed as being of architectural interest or in conservation areas. In the 1920's and '30's a reputation for high quality brick buildings was established. Many banks and public houses completed in this era bear witness to the lasting quality of their designs. In 1991 Edgington Spink and Hyne relocated to offices in their development venture comprising of converted barns and stables in Riding Court, Datchet.
