Lampton Park Conference Centre - The London Borough of Hounslow The London Borough of Hounslow has upgraded the Civic Centre to incorporate a new Conference Centre. The existing buildings comprising of four two storey pavilions linked by a service core were constructed in the 1970’s using a robust architectural language combining brickwork, stone cladding and glazing with large overhangs. The building is surrounded by 28 hectares of parkland, playing fields and gardens. The new Conference Centre was formed by extending the building and altering existing spaces within and below the existing structure. The space includes flexible meeting areas created with moveable walls on a track system, cloakroom and bar facilities together with a commercial kitchen and servery capable of catering for 1000 guests. A new entrance enables the conference facilities to be independent of the Civic Centre. The facilities cater for conferences, exhibitions, weddings and similar events. The stone cladding and glazing used on the new extension match the materials and module sizes of the existing building. The retained elements of the gardens on the south side of the building originally designed by the landscape architect Preben Jacobsen have been refurbished and re-focused with new planting and materials based on his original themes. |
