Thames Valley Hospice, Windsor

Her Majesty the Queen officially opened Pine Lodge, Thames Valley Hospice in November 1987 some six months after the first patients were admitted.

In January 2001 the building closed for refurbishment and extension to enable all medical, administrative and ancillary departments to be based on a single site. Pine Lodge re-opened to admit patients in April 2002. The Hospice is now able to offer in the enlarged building enhanced Day Care Facilities, Complementary Therapies, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Lymphoedema Clinics and Family Support as well as an improved In-patient Unit providing 18 beds. In doubling the size of the building we have sought to maintain the relaxed intimacy and character of the original building. Feedback from visitors on the Public Open Days held when the Hospice re-opened attests to the success of this aim.

The new enlarged building was officially re-opened by Her Majesty The Queen in October 2002.
