Luxury Housing, Wethered Park, Marlow.

The design was for 45 high quality housing units within an eight acre site originally forming the landscaped garden of a listed Georgian building. In order to preserve the majority of the open areas of the garden the units are grouped in two areas, the first as a Georgian style crescent and the second in Victorian style within a walled area to the East.

The design called for great sensitivity in a particularly un-spoilt town where scale, detail and choice of materials were of the utmost importance. The development is within a conservation area and is self contained. It includes a lake which has been bridged to allow access to some of the units. We undertook the design from initial feasibility studies through to production information and then intermittent site presence.

A sensitive approach to planning issues was essential due to location in a Conservation Area and adjacent to an important listed building. A long period of planning negotiations was necessary to persuade the Planning Authority to abandon the original planning brief for individual and loosely coordinated units in favour of a highly coordinated and planned group of buildings more suitable for its setting.
